Just like handsets, gaming devices are becoming more and more sophisticated and must include additional applications and capabilities to compete in an ever more demanding consumer market. Gaming devices pose different challenges including larger LCD screens, controls and audio systems and the demand for triband, quadband or pentaband antennas.
Fractus worked with a major mobile game device developer. The customer's mobile gaming device's RF module had been changed, the available handset antenna volume reduced and the original antenna and the influence of nearby components increased.
Despite these added constraints the new GSM and GPS multi-band antennas developed by Fractus had excellent RF performance with efficiencies of over 50% in GSM 850/900 and over 40% in GSM 1800/1900 and mean gain in all frequencies of greater than -1 dBi.
