Clamshell cellular antennas to Fractus Homepage
Fractus delivers low profile antennas for clamshell cellular handsets that deliver high customer satisfaction.

Clamshell cellular antennas demand significant antenna development and expertise as the two different form factors, open and closed, demand that the antenna works effectively in two very different orientations of materials and electronic activity.

Fractus’ patented cellular antenna technologies and extensive expertise across all cell phone topologies combines with a company-wide focus on working with designers from day one to develop the optimum cellular antenna for each device. This delivers the optimum result both in terms of handset product performance and design, but also ensures a focus on quality at every stage of the process and for every aspect of the end product.

Fractus worked with one major Asian cellular handset producer from the initial design stage to develop an antenna for a dual band GSM clamshell handset range. Chamber tests of early phones indicated that cellular antenna performance easily fulfilled the company’s requirements, and field tests showed that the antennas out-performed competitors. Fractus cellular antennas were then used in both production models and an antenna was also developed for a related slider phone model released in early 2006. This was a very slim, high end model including a quadband antenna, a two mega-pixel camera, MP3 player and Bluetooth communications.
