President and Chief Executive Officer
Ruben Bonet co-founded Fractus in March 1999 together with Dr. Carles Puente and took over as chairman of the company in June 2008. He leads the Fractus executive team with strategy definition and executive responsibility across all business lines. As a management consultant with Arthur Andersen, Ruben managed organizational change and business process re-engineering to facilitate high growth rates in companies in the telecoms, automotive and consumer distribution industries. Ruben has a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and an MBA from the IESE Business School.
Chief Scientist
Dr. Carles Puente is a co-founder of Fractus and leads its antenna technology development team, with responsibility for the company’s intellectual property portfolio development and antenna development. Carles started researching fractal-shaped antennas while a student at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in the late 1980s. He gained an MSc from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA in 1994 and a PhD from UPC in 1997. From 1994 to 1999 he worked with the faculty of Electromagnetic and Photonic Engineering at UPC on pioneering developments of fractal technology applied to antennas and microwave devices. Carles was awarded with the Best Doctoral Thesis in Mobile Communications 1997, and in 1998 he and his team received the European Information Society Technology Grand Prize from the European Commission for their work. He has authored more than 30 invention patents and 50 scientific publications related to fractal antenna technology.
Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Director
Angel leads the financial, legal, human resources and administrative functions at Fractus. He joined the company in May 2001 after 10 years working as a management consultant and as CFO for multinational organizations bringing business experience in rapid growth and planning major expansion. Angel's expertise includes building and monitoring financial management and strategic planning in pre-initial public offering (pre-IPO) companies. Angel has an Economics Degree and MBA from Universitat de Barcelona (UB).
Director of Products & Services Division
Josep leads the Products and Services Division with responsibility of sales expansion including complete P&L responsibility in terms of products, services, direct accounts, distributors, reps and suppliers. Josep joined Fractus in March 2007 from Philips Semiconductors where he was the Business Execution and Customer Forecast Manager for a global account. Previously he worked for Hewlett Packard as a New Product Development Engineer and Supply Chain Engineer. He also was the Iberian Sales Manager for ITT Semiconductors. Josep holds a degree in Physics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) specializing in electronics and also a Master in Finance from EADA.
Director of Licensing & Marketing
Jordi is directing Fractus’ licensing and market research activities. He joined Fractus in 2005, and he has helped the company successfully execute its licensing strategy. He has contributed in developing Fractus’ patent portfolio and has participated in the company’s licensing negotiations and litigation activities. Prior to joining Fractus, he worked in IP at Nokia Research Center for 3 and a half years and heading the patent department at a patent attorney firm in Barcelona. Jordi specialized in Electronics and Automation at Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).
